REQUIEM |
THE 4-1-1 Full Name: Requiem Nickname(s): Req Age: 3 Gender: Male Species: Canine Breed(s): Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever x Australian Shepherd Theme Song: Leave Out All The Rest - Linkin Park Mate: (Devi?)
BODY, Requiem is a mid to large sized canine, weighing in at just around 60 pounds and standing 23 inches tall at the shoulder. His looks have bits and pieces of both of his known breeds. His coat is a rusty red or liver color commonly seen on the NSDTR breed, marked with white along his chin, chest, belly, and the tips of his paws. His coat shape takes on more of the Aussie side, being longer and coarser than common for NSDTRs. He is built somewhat broad in the chest, but still keeps a lean appearance. His eyes are often seen as an oddity against his coat; one is amber, the other a steely blue.
MIND, Requiem could be compared to a knight. He's a little rough around the edges, but he's strong, fierce, just, and noble. However, he can have some dominance issues; as in, he wants to be dominant and doesn't take orders very well. He tends to keep his thoughts to himself, generally preferring solitude to the commotion of heavily populated areas. At the same time, he enjoys the company of friends, he just prefers a more peaceful and quiet setting. He will fight before he takes flight, there's no questioning that. If you offend him, he's quick to fight back, and doesn't always forgive very easily. At the bottom of it all, he has a kind heart and knows how to love once you give him a chance.
SOUL. His parents were both purebreds who were deserted on the island for unknown reasons. They actually met (and mated) on the ship over to the island, and he was born not too long after. His father went crazy, unable to handle the environment, and his mother had little to no survival skills of her own. This complicated things for the litter, and one by one all the pups passed on until just Requiem remained. As the months passed, he grew bigger and stronger, yet his mother grew weaker and more fragile. She really couldn't bear the lifestyle, and Req quickly learned how to provide for both of them. Somehow his attempts were not enough. Providing her food and shelter did little when powerful males found them and had their way with her. After three failed pregnancies, a fourth finally took it's toll on her health and Requiem was left utterly alone. He was just over two by that time, and after seeing what his mother had been through, he vowed he'd never turn into a beast like that. He will always have a soft spot for females, especially those alone and vulnerable, but at the same time, he has a hard time learning how to love again.
One day, he heard the ships dropping off new animals on his old home island, Paradise Island. He made a haggard journey down the mountain to face the creatures that swarmed the beach. There, he met Devi. She was struggling for life, frozen and malnourished. He laid with her until she was warm enough to move again, and then helped her journey back to a place of shelter where he tried to nurse her back to health.
Not long after, they found themselves captured and thrown onto another ship with a swarm of dogs. Food was often scarce, but they did their best to maintain what health they had in hopes of finding a better life once their journey ended...wherever it might end.

THE 4-1-1 Full Name: Malaika Nickname(s): Malai, Mal Age: 7 Gender: Female Species: Equine Breed(s): Appaloosa Other: None
BODY, |
Coat Color: Sorrel with a flaxen mane and tail Eye Color: Left eye is blue, right eyes is brown Height: 15.1hh Weight: Just over 1000 pounds Markings: Blanket, a couple of birdcatcher spots, small star Scars, birthmarks, etc: None
MIND, With a name meaning "angels", you'd probably expect anything but what she is. Malaika is a very bitter mare, downright foul at times. She has never had a friend and doesn't seem to care whether anyone likes her or not. She's so disagreeable no one has ever wanted her in their herd, and she's mostly settled in to a life of solitude. When she does come across someone, she's quick to pass judgement always finds something to pick on them about. In a nutshell, if you don't like her...get lost. She'll never notice you're missing.
SOUL. Malaika has a bit of a tortured past, but who doesn't these days. She was born at a stable into the hands of humans with high expectations. She was bred to be a halter horse but that didn't quite pan out, thanks to a couple conformational flaws and inability to hold enough muscling. Any other mare who didn't measure up for halter may have had a shot at the western venues, but with her sour attitude anyone who came to look at her quickly spun on their heels. They tried drugging her, putting her on hormonal medications, everything - including attempting to breed her. The first stallion she met she put some nice kick marks in. After that they tried A.I. but she managed to attack the vet. At that point her owners finally threw up the white flag and send her off to Gershom, figuring she was just the type of horse that would be happier away from humans anyway. She's been on the island for over 4 years now and has repressed most of the memories of her past before coming here.

THE 4-1-1 Full Name: Vitalis Nickname(s): Vi Age: 4 Gender: Male Species: Equine Breed(s): Lusitano Cross x Thoroughbred Cross Other: None
BODY, |
Coat Color: Buckskin with light dappling Eye Color: Light brown Height: 16.1hh Weight: 1100lb approx Markings: Crooked stripe, right hind stocking, left hind cornet, socks on both front feet Scars, birthmarks, etc: None
MIND, Vitalis is a very proud and optimisic stallion. He carries himself with an air of confidance, and occasionally, arrogance. He is poised, but doesn't look down on others. A bit bold in his endeavors at times, nothing will stop him from getting what he wants when he sets his mind on it. He is kind-hearted towards mares, and is quick to slather on the charm. He can be a bit of a flirt, though is only just now reaching his full physical maturity and starting to think seriously about that sort of thing. Despite his appearances and sugary words, he seeks more in a friend (or mate) than beauty. He knows that in order to build a successful herd he will need those with keen intelligence and strong survival skills by his sides. He may fall for a hot little number if given the chance, but it won't develop into a long term mate.
His attitude towards stallions can be a bit worse. Though he is young, he has no fear about standing up to an older stallion and is determined to mark his claim on this earth. A small part of him fears them and their success, which causes him to be more on edge around them. He would be quick to challenge a fight, should anyone provoke him or his future band of mares. In some cases it may prove to his benefit, for weaker stallions may sense his authority and back down. However, it will also make relationships hard for him and may cut down the possibility of forming alliances.
SOUL. Vitalis was born on Gershom and his youthful years were merely your average tale. He stuck with his birth herd until he was three, at which age all colts were asked to move along on their way. After leaving, he found a small harem of mares that sort of adopted him in, thinking he was not only cute but a source of protection for them. However, their personalities clashed with his and he finally had to admit it was time to move on and make his own way in the world. He thinks he has the wisdom and charisma to build a thriving herd of his own, and is now setting out to do just that.
