Probably. he replied easily to her comment. But she wasn't amused that he had handled her questioning so well. She had to think up a new plan. Well good, at least he wasn't the only one that had to rethink his strategy a million different times to make her see reason. Of course, as he had told her, he had a bit of a thick skull. Maybe that's why none of her insults had gotten past under his skin. Of course, nothing of his hadn't been deflected by her Ice Queen shield, but he wasn't keeping score. At least not consciously.
She almost looked like she was debating a truce. He grew suspisious. She had given him no reason to think she would be happy staying here, but his nearly expended persistance was making her have second thoughts. She was probably only thinking of safety in numbers, but he would eventually change her mind. She'd like it here, he was pretty sure, but she'd never, EVER admit it. At least not to him. And he was okay with that, because she was a stunner and he liked her. That was enough.
She closed the distance, but didn't invade his space like she had before. It was a comfortable distance, one that friends would choose. He could always hope for more, but Malaika was the Ice Queen. It would take years of annoying her to make her realize she liked him back.
Oh. he replied airily to her comment, we'll have to work on your social skills. It was said with not a small amount of amusement, and he expected a good(ish)natured kick to the ribs, so he was ready. Other than that, there aren't really any plans except to avoid Mr. Rattler, unless you happen to be good at killing snakes, and let you explore the land so that when you decide to run away with a different dashing stud you know where the borders are. He gave a nod, turning twinkling brown eyes to her to see what she thought of those... "plans."

The mare was trying her best to remain collected and civil, but this stallion just kept making it harder and harder for that to happen. He seemed to enjoy pushing her buttons. If she had feathers, they'd be beyond ruffled after his continued snide comments.
Her eyes grew fiery at his mention of social skills. Her social skills were just fine, thank you very much. "Social skills? Pfft. I made it clear what I wanted, and you're the one who keeps ignoring my wishes." Her words came out in a gruff tone, and she rushed forward to nip him on the neck. A final warning, perhaps, that if he really wanted her to stick around he'd best quit stepping on her toes. Her bark may be worse than her bite, but she'd still bite when provoked.
She drew back again, her expressions falling more sullen. She was a little surprised at his plans, and found her curiosity rising. He wasn't being overly demanding. No matter how much she wanted to hate him, she had to respect him too. He may not be the same as most stallions, overly bossy and dominant. He was an annoying pest, to be sure, but perhaps not as arrogant as those she'd met in the past.
All these thoughts confused her, and confusion made her uneasy. She started pacing again, swishing her flaxen tail nervously. Malai glanced back at the stallion again, and then took off at a dead run. She bucked and bounced as she ran, letting off her emotional steam. She didn't look back to see if he was chasing her. She didn't really care if he did or not. She was no longer sure she wanted to run away from this offering of a safe haven, but she couldn't say she was opposed to the idea either.

She still didn't seem pleased with him, but that wasn't an emotion that he expected from her, quite frankly. His presence seemed to keep her in a perpetually disgruntled state, which he couldn't say that he didn't enjoy. She was a fireball at times, even as the Ice Queen, and she amused him. That and she had the looks to keep him staring. Not that he'd let her catch him doing that, that would probably elicit an extreme reaction.
Dear. he told her after her social skills comment, You have no idea what social skills are. His brown eyes were full of merriment, at her expense, but he couldn't help himself. She was blunt, rude, and had a temper, things she didn't even try to smooth over with words or actions. That, at least to him, qualified for little to no social skills. He doubted he would get anywhere with her on this quest, because she seemed to have no motivation or desire to change.
The nip at his neck was narrowly avoided by flinging it high and away from her, but the message was clear. Not that he wouldn't do it again. Ni was no the type to leave someone alone, as she had unsuccessfully tried to make him do. She had already learned much of what there was about him, she just didn't know that the personality he showed her ran quite so deep.
However, his plans surprised her. He could tell by the way she didn't flare up at him, but instead hovered halfway between the Ice Queen and the fireball, halfway glaring at him and halfway not knowing what to do about him. He was glad he had sprung something on her, and was wondering what her image of him really was. He really wasn't sure. She wasn't angry with him now, but she had been, and he wasn't sure what he had morphed into in her mind,
She became restless, and shortly took off for who knows where. He grew slightly alarmed that she was running away and immediately sprung after her, but she wasn't heading in the direction where his land would end very soon. Instead of slowing, he kept his muscles in action, flying his fastest. She had a head start, but he wasn't letting her gain any. After a short sprint, though, he slowed to a more sustainable ground-eating canter. She continued to run, but he knew the land well enough to know he'd be able to see her even if she got pretty far ahead of him. His ears flickered and his eyes kept track of his surroundings, watching out for himself and her.
