Eden
The early sun of the morning began heating the dewed grass that lay on the ground near the base of a tall mountain. The tallest out of the mountains on the island. At the base there was much vegetation growing such as leafy trees but as you went up the pass of the mountain, the less plants there were and the climate got cooler and cooler. The shadoes on the steep sides changed to a monotonous gray blend. The rocks grew sharper and rocky, far more dangerous as you got to the peak. The mountain was sturdy yet the top layer was like walking on glass with little thorns pricking at your feet. At the peak there was a small amount of snow that naturally lay there all year from the elevation except for maybe the Summer time. Spectacular, breath-taking views could be seen from the top and pretty much all of the island except for a few blocked views by neighboring mountains. From sea to sea, there were the Timbers, Lealands, prairies, and anything you could think of. Just the naturalism of the whole island would make anyone stop and smell the roses.
Perfect, thought Eden, who was staring from the base of the mountain all the way up. She had a pelt of glistening white, as pure as snow and her frame was a hybrid in between bulky and lanky, just the right happy medium. The wolf was well muscled and in her prime time with a clear bill of health. Physically, she was pristine but mentally she wasn't. She often had hallucinations but after a year she convinced herself they were visions. So from that total utter lie, she calls herself 'The Prophetess'. It adds a tinge of power to her name, don't you think? The young she wolf was calculating good land for herself and maybe a future pack. This mountain was the tallest on the island, they called it Kohinoor. It was an advantageous spot for spying on others from the peak, overlooking nearly all of the island. It rang a bell in her head, it was definitely the place for her, no doubt about it. She saw the rest of the places but this one just came to her. But she had to climb this beast of a hill to claim it and ring her claiming howl at the very peak so all the creatures could hear her call of dominance.
Eden began her journey on a treacherous pass of the mountain that was made my nature itself. She felt the cold rocks on her pads, and any vibrations that went through the mountain. Slowly she sped up her pace so that she could make good time to get to the top. Her muscles coiled and sprang with every step, feet pounding the ground like a steady beat of the drum as she panted with her tongue sticking out just a bit. The wolfess could taste the moisture in the air. Eden tired the farther she went but her determination fueled her to go on. She leaped over medium sized rocks and bounded up to the top. After a suitable amount of time she was near to the peak and she slowed to catch her breath. Even though that was a challenge it felt good to run and stretch her muscles. And she would be greatly rewarded. Soon, Very soon.
Finally on the peak, she let out a haunting howl that was high pitched with her muzzle to the heavens. It was almost musical and melodic. She was queen of the Mountain now, claiming it for herself and her soon to be followers. They would frolic to her from every direction. She let every ounce of dominant personality and aggressive posture seep into this claim, she would not be messed with. Her rule would be strict, yet there would be justice. A military type of pack that would fight for there resources and dominant rankings among the whole island out of any living being that walked on this soil. Every member would positioned to the best of there ability and no high ranking official position would be left without someone in it's place. To be fully functional, she needed all the ranks filled to be the best. She needed quality, AND numbers. Her mark in history was about to begin.
Queen of the Mountain, at last.
